INFORMATION

Venetian Harbor was originally a castle that served as the mansion of a Venetian nobleman during the 16th century, prior to being occupied by a Turkish Aga (a senior ranking official of the Ottoman Empire) and his harem, up until the Cretan State’s union with Greece in 1913.

It is located in a narrow yet picturesque alley, right in the heart of the Old Town of Chania, only a stone’s throw away from the city’s seafront and its world renowned harbour with the immaculate lighthouse view.

It is adjacent to the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Eleftherios, steps away from the Ahmet Aga Minaret, living proof of Chania’s wide recognition as a site of multicultural heritage and seminal importance that spans over centuries.

Our hotel has been restored by its new owner circa 2015, so as to maintain its exquisite architectural features and to become a landmark for a unique holiday accommodation experience. A walled patio, numerous ceiling height arches, stone carved doors, certain canopy ceilings and wall carved closets ornamented with exceptional Arabic designs are among the post renovation features.

Our thorough reconstruction process unearthed the ruins of Αncient Roman walls that date back to the 1st century AC, lying right under the surface of our establishment. Following careful restoration under the supervision of the local archaeological authorities, the aforementioned walls are now exhibited under an extensive glass display that encompasses over 2,000 years of history.

The suites have been put together in a spacious arrangement that includes multiple windows, facing both the walled patio and secluded alley, sights which take our visitors on a majestic journey throughout history. A total of seven suites have access to their own private terraces, with the ones of the second floor offering breathtaking views of Chania’s skyline, featuring bellhouses, minarets, fortifications, and the ever stormy Cretan sea.

All guests have access to the indoor and outdoor restaurant areas, as much as our unique wellness and spa services. The latter include a swimming pool constructed on top of ceiling-high Venetian arches.
